Andrea Damic’s publications in online and print magazines

Author Bio:

Andrea Damic, born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, now resides in Sydney, Australia. She's an amateur photographer and author of poetry and prose. Being a non-native English speaker makes every publication worth the struggle. She believes there's something cathartic about seeing your words and art out in the world.

Her literary art appears or is forthcoming in Bending Genres, JMWW, Sky Island Journal, The Ekphrastic Review, Cutbow Quarterly, the other side of hope, Lothlorien Poetry Journal, Door Is A Jar, Roi Fainéant Press, Five on the Fifth, The Dribble Drabble Review, Your Impossible Voice, The Piker Press, The Odd Magazine, 365tomorrows, The Elpis Letters, 50 Give or Take (Vine Leaves Press) Anthologies, Mad Swirl, Coalition for Digital Narratives, Friday Flash Fiction, and elsewhere.

Her visual art can be found in Fusion Art and Light, Space & Time Online Exhibitions or various online and print publications such as Abstract: Contemporary Expressions, Wild Roof Journal, Ink in Threads, Rejection Letters, Mad Swirl, The Piker Press, Anti-Heroin Chic, Bureau of Complaint, Coalition for Digital Narratives, Arkana at the University of Central Arkansas, Welter at the University of Baltimore, Invisible City at the University of San Francisco, ZiN Daily and elsewhere. Andrea is especially proud of having her photographs published on the covers of Door Is A Jar Literary Magazine (Winter 2022 Issue 25), Rat's Ass Review (Spring-Summer and Fall-Winter 2023 Issue) and Molecule: A Tiny Lit Mag (Fall 2023 Issue 9).

‘Parafantasy Nr. 1’ - compilation of voices and music

Massive thanks to the composer Rhodri Williams-Wandoch (Twitter @sottovocesounds) for ‘Parafantasy Nr. 1’ which uses Paragraph Planet pieces to create this beautiful compilation of stories with his own music.

When I first got contacted by Paragraph Planet’s E-I-C Richard Hearn in Jan 2023, who advised that mine was one of the pieces selected for the compilation and that the idea was for the selected authors to voice their paragraphs, which would then be superimposed onto specially composed tracks, my first thought was the one of utmost exaltation as I could not believe my paragraph got chosen, immediately followed by the dread of having to record it as I really don’t like the sound of my recorded voice.

Suffice to say I decided to do it. Believe you me that doing this was way out of my comfort zone. Being a non-native English speaker I prefer reading in my own head, but Rhodri was very reassuring for which I am evermore grateful.

My one-sentence paragraph is called ‘Every Summer’ (published on 24th June 2022 – thank you Richard Hearn) and it’s the first reading in this pretty awesome compilation of voices and music.

*The Elpis Letters: A Collective*

Deeply proud and humbled to have my words (a letter and a poem) included in The Elpis Letters: A Collective by EIC Kayla King.

From this collection, as Kayla puts it 'you can expect nostalgic, fierce, heartbreaking, hopeful, & exquisite work. These letters, poems, essays, & creative nonfiction are absolute 🔥. These writers have shared words that are authentic and maybe too relatable, but that’s the beauty of writing.'

The proceeds will be donated to The Center for Reproductive Rights, so if you can, please purchase a copy on Amazon or click on the photo below (on the left) and check out my review (on the right):
